Would you like to sell your jewelry designs and get free publicity at the same time? Why not consider putting on a fashion show to market your jewelry?
A fashion show can be a powerful way to showcase your handmade jewelry designs and get them noticed. When people see how great the jewelry looks on the fashion show models, they’ll be eager to purchase your designs for their own jewelry collection. A fashion show is the ultimate in fun and entertainment and is a great environment for promoting your jewelry.
To get started, contact some local boutiques in your area that sell higher end clothing. Let them know you’d like to put on a fashion show showcasing your jewelry along with their clothing designs. If one of the boutiques participating in the show is large enough, you could hold the show in the store. Once you have your site selected, visit one of your local high school to find some high school girls interested in modeling clothing and jewelry for the show. You might consider working out an arrangement with the school whereby they receive a small portion of the proceeds of any designs sold at the show. You could state this in your marketing material which would help to boost attendance and promote goodwill.
Once you have your site and models selected, send a quick release to any local newspapers and magazines in your area announcing your fashion show to support such and such a school. (if you plan on donating a portion to the school). Call your local radio stations and see if you can get a quick mention on the air.Post flyers everywhere and encourage the school you’re supporting to spread the word. Also, be sure to advertise heavily in the stores of the participating boutiques and post notices on your website. By using these marketing methods, you should get a good turnout.
On the night of the show, offer light refreshments and give people the opportunity to purchase at the show. You’ll need to bring some of your jewelry to display at a table at the show. Set up your display in an attractive and appealing way to attract sales. Be sure to have tons of business cards and flyers available to give out to everyone who show an interesting in your jewelry designs. Be sure to give them your website address. Many of them will access your site once they return home.
If done properly, a fashion show can give your jewelry business a big boost in sales and publicity. If it’s successful, you could even make your fashion shows a regular event. Give this idea a try and see if it’s not both fun and lucrative!
