Dresses Every Woman Should Own

Monday, December 26th, 2011

Picking out the perfect dress to by can be a very difficult task.  There are so many different styles and colors to choose from it may sometimes seem impossible to pick out a great dress.  This guide will not only tell you what dresses every women should own, but why you should own these dresses and more importantly how to wear them and what to wear them with.

The first dress we are going to talk about is the A-line dress.  This is what I like to call the back up dress as it looks great on anyone in any situation.  This is the ultimate quick fix and back up dress.  When you are in a hurry or you just need a different look, this is the dress to choose.  It is such a great and versatile dress because you can add just about any accessories and you are set for any occasion.  I recommend that a woman should own four of these dresses, one in black, one in white, one in a solid neutral color, and a blocked bright colored one.

Prom is a special event and you want to look your best for the occasion. Unfortunately, prom dresses can be expensive and you’re paying for a dress you’ll probably wear only one time. Instead of paying retail price for a prom dress, you can use the money you save to accessorize your outfit with some beautiful jewelry and accessories you can enjoy for many years to come. Here are some offbeat places to buy prom dresses that won’t break the bank:

Off beat places to buy prom dresses: Consignment stores

Consignment stores are located in almost every city these days and they offer a nice selection of gently worn second clothing of all types, including prom and evening dresses You’ll find them a fraction of the price you’d pay at retail. Dress For Your Child

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

Have you recently decided that you would like your child to enter into beauty contests?  Whether your child is a toddler, a teen, or an elementary school aged child, it is likely that you will be in charge of choosing and buying a beauty pageant dress. A beauty pageant dress is an important part of a pageant; therefore, you will want to make sure that you take your time and choose the perfect beauty pageant dress for your child, not just any ole one.

One of the first things that many parents do is try to envision what type of dress they would like their child to wear.  While this is more than possible to do, you never really know what you will find.  Instead of wasting time discussing what you may or may not even come across, you may want to wait and save the discussions until after you start shopping. So, in that case, the first thing that you may want to do is head on down to your shopping mall or dress store.

Once you arrive at the store or stores that you would like to visit, you can start eliminating beauty pageant dress styles or colors almost right away.  It is also advised that you bring your daughter along with you.  If your daughter is unable to attend, for one reason or another, you can look, but you may want to hold off on buying.  A beauty pageant dress is one that should be a joint decision between everyone involved, even your child, especially if she is a teenager.  Once you and your daughter have a handful of beauty pageant dresses that they would like to at least try on, you will want to get started with doing so.

Buying dress for wedding or prom online

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Are you thinking about buying dress for wedding or prom online? Stay with me and reveal the secret to get the best of them which also come in good price you could possibly afford. For most people in the world right now, using the internet to help them get the best stuff could be a good move to do because there are so many benefits you are going to get and not to mention that getting that kind of thing online is one completely different experience than physically going to a store. The most important point you have take a note as people buy something online is about how they could save a lot of money on the gas money. How does it possible? You all know that choosing the best wedding or prom dress in the local store is going to spend a lot of money as we speak about how you move from one store to another and as a result, it increases your total cost. As you decide to go to the local store, you might also find yourself waste a whole evening in several different stores trying to find the perfect prom dress.

Knowing the fact that the process of choosing the best dress for prom or wedding on the local store is time-wasting as well as the money-spending, you might need to think about buying prom or chiffon prom dress. Buying your prom dress online may allow you to take advantage of several unique features of internet retail. Online merchants can provide deep discounts that brick and mortar stores just can’t match. They might also offer to guarantee for their prices. They may have a price match guarantee or at least cut you a deal if other prices on the internet are lower. Buying a prom dress from an internet retailer beats going to a neighborhood store any day.

The most important factor you need to take serious attention at is about how you choose the best online store where you could buy Homecoming Cocktail Dresses. Even though it’s not going to be such an easy job to accomplish, when you are there, you will be able to obtain the satisfaction more than what you used to get on the local store. Naturally, you will have immediate satisfaction if you shop at a store. The dresses are right in front of you, and you can search through the racks to see what you like.

Fashion’s Shadow -The Black Dress

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Wearing black has beenfashionable in many times and places since the 14th century. For example, black clothing had become THE color to wear at the Spanish court by the late 16th century, but was modified by adding a white collar or muff. Spanish black soon became the color to wear in Holland, Italy, and England as well.

Due to many others wearing it, Spanish black was considered old-fashioned by the mid-17th century. It suggested age and religious piety. Puritans and pious merchants wore it.

For the next hundred years or more, black with white accents became respectable rather than daring. Wearing black started as a trend in England and America in the latter half of the 19th century when England’s Queen Victoria wore only black dresses after the death of her husband, Prince Albert.

The Evolution Of Cocktail Dresses

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

During the 1920s when the cocktail dresses were introduced by Coco Channel, this referred to semi-formal dresses that can be short or ankle length and worn particularly for cocktail parties. They were meant for little “late afternoon “events where finger foods and cocktail drinks were the main menu. Cocktail gatherings them were mostly business in nature or may be connected to an unveiling of an artwork or a showing of an art exhibit.

Conversations were called tête-à-têtes and dwelt mostly on the art exhibit or the business launching agenda. Cocktail dresses were first introduced as soft, figure forming garments in plain cuts or soft silhouettes. Cocktail gowns which reached ankle lengths were slowly taken out of the picture because designers referred to them as ballerina or dancing costumes.

During that era, cocktail dresses can be of any color. The black dresses emerged and slowly gained attraction despite their relation to mourning occasions. The first black mourning dress that saw any occasion was the one Queen Victoria wore for a long time to signify her mourning for the passing away of Prince Albert.
